Israel: The Holy Land Pilgrimage Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Bethlehem Nazareth, Tiberias, the Sea of Galilee
Unfortunately, Travel 'N' Tours does not currently operate tours to the Holy Land. Since early 2000, we have deemed that travel to Israel poses too great a risk to American visitors, and thus we discontinued our Holy Land pilgrimage program.
Our fervent hope and abiding prayer is that soon peace will be restored to the land called "holy" and we will be able to resume tour operations to the land where Jesus walked.

Detailed Daily Itinerary: This is an actual itinerary for a Holy Land Experience offered by Travel ‘N’ Tours before the most recent Intifada. Please understand that we offer no Holy Land pilgrimages at the present time, due to the volatile conditions which currently prevail in Israel. Our heartfelt hope and prayer is that very soon a “miracle” will bless this ancient land with peace, allowing people of all faiths to visit its hallowed sites in peace and safety. Join us in praying for Peace in the Holy Land! Day 1: Depart your domestic gateway for Transatlantic Flight Board your flight to New York, and then enjoy a pleasant overnight flight to Israel. Meals and beverages will be served as appropriate, and a movie will be shown.
Day 2: Tel Aviv, Israel Arrive late morning in the Land of the Bible where you will be cordially met and greeted by representatives of our Israel travel operator. Claim your luggage and enjoy a pleasant one hour ride in your private motorcoach to Jerusalem, “the City of Gold.” Check into the 5 star deluxe King Solomon Hotel, or similar. Unpack, begin to adjust to the new time zone, and enjoy a sumptuous, served dinner.
Day 3: Ein Karem, Model of Jerusalem, Bethlehem Enjoy a bountiful Israeli buffet breakfast consisting of many of the succulent “fruits of the land,” and board your motorcoach for a ride to Ein Karem, the hometown of John the Baptist and site of the Basilica of the Visitation. See a historically accurate model of 1st Century Jerusalem: the Jerusalem that Jesus knew and hear a revealing and instructive explanation. Onward to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity which houses the cave where Our Lord was born. Time for some great shopping in one of the best religious goods stores in Israel where you can purchase handcrafted articles by the Christians of Bethlehem.
Day 4: Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Via Dolorosa Drive to the crest of the Mt. of Olives and experience the unbelievable, panoramic view of the Old City. Visit Pater Noster Church marking the spot where Jesus taught his disciples the Lord’s Prayer. Walk past Dominus Flevit Chapel (the spot where Jesus wept over Jerusalem), the Garden of Gethsemane, the Basilica of the Agony with the sacred rock upon wich Jesus prayed and sweated drops of blood. Enter the walled city through St. Stephen’s Gate and visit the Church of St. Anne, built on the site traditionally revered as the place the Virgin Mary was born. Walk to the Chapels of the Condemnation and of the Imposition of the Cross as you begin the sorrowful Way of the Cross (Via Dolorosa). The Via Dolorosa finds its conclusion at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, reliably accepted as the place of Jesus’ crucifixion, death, and resurrection.
Day 5: Western Wall, Temple Mount, Cenacle, Shrine of the Book Enter the Old City through the Dung Gate and stop for prayer at the Western Wall, the only surviving relic of the splendid Temple that Jesus knew. Ascend by foot to the Dome of the Rock atop the Temple Mount and see the Sacred Rock, venerated by the three great world religions. Continue to Mt. Zion and visit the Cenacle, traditional Place of the Last Super. Visit the Church of the Dormition marking the traditional spot from which Mary went to her eternal rest. See the treasures of Qumran (the Dead Sea Scrolls) at the awesome Shrine of the Book Museum.
Day 6: Masada, Qumran, Dead Sea Drive to Masada where a determined band of Jewish Zealots, in the face of unimaginable hardship, held off their Roman attackers for three years after Jerusalem had fallen to Titus in A.D. 70. Ascend Masada, first by cable car and then by steps. Tour the considerable ruins and hear one of the most gripping tragedies in recorded history. Bring your bathing suit for a swim in the Dead Sea. Because 1/4 of the sea is composed of minerals, you can ‘sit’ or ‘lie’ on this strangest of bodies of water. On to Qumran where the Essenes wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered by shepherd boys after 2,000 years of oblivion.
Day 7: Bet She’an, Jericho, Nazareth, Tiberias Bid a fond farewell to Jerusalem as you travel by the old Wadi Kelt Road through the Judean Desert to Jericho. Tour the ruins and see the Mount of Temptation where Jesus was led by the Spirit and where He fasted for 40 days and nights. Visit the extensive ruins of Bet She’an, one of the cities of the Decapolis. Continue through the Jordan Valley to Nazareth and the Church of the Annunciation. Visit the Greek Catholic Church, considered to be the Synagogue of Nazareth during Jesus’ time, where He read and taught from the Scroll. Overnight in a superior first class hotel located on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.
Day 8: Sea of Galilee Area Walk to the waterfront where you will board a boat for a memorable trip across the Sea of Galilee. Dock at Nof Ginosar and view the “Jesus Boat,” an ancient boat dating to the time of Jesus. Transfer to Capernaum, Jesus’ adopted home. Visit the Synagogue of Capernaum and the House of St. Peter with its “Jesus Room.” Visit Tabgha and tour the Church of the Multiplication, marking the spot where Jesus fed the multitudes. Visit the Mount of the Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount. Visit the Church of the Primacy at the site of the third Resurrection appearance of Jesus. Drive to Mt. Tabor, the mount of the Transfiguration where an unforgettable panorama will unfold before your eyes. To close this exceptional day, you will visit a place of rare charm and extraordinary beauty: Yardenit, a baptismal site on the Jordan River.
Day 9: Cana, Mt. Carmel, Caesarea Maritima, Tel Aviv / Joppa Proceed to Cana of Galilee and visit the quaint “Wedding Church,” site of Jesus’ first miracle. Drive to the Place of the Burning, where Elijah faced the pagan priests of Baal. Continue along the Mediterranean Coast to Caesarea Maritima. Visit the great Roman theater which has been fully excavated; see Pontius Pilate’s box seat! On to Tel Aviv where you will visit Joppa, the ancient city from which Jonah set sail. Enjoy a festive, farewell dinner in Joppa, before your motorcoach transfers you to Ben Gurion International Airport for check-in for your flights home.
Day 10: Tel Aviv / JFK/ Home Board your nonstop jet to New York at 1:00 AM. Enjoy food, a movie, or settle down to a cozy night’s sleep before you arrive at JFK. Connect with flights home, arriving later today due to the change in time zones. |
