Three of Europe's loveliest and most historic cities await you on this leisurely-paced tour offering 3-nights in each extraordinary location. The cultural experience will be further enhanced by fine dining in centuries-old restaurants. In the "Golden City" of Prague, tours of the city include the Jewish Quarter, Hradcany Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Town district, Charles Bridge, and the unique astronomical clock. After a scenic ride through the countryside, arrive in Vienna, where you will enjoy a classical music concert featuring the works of the great composers who were inspired by Vienna's charms. Visit the 12th-Century St. Stephen's Cathedral, and Schoenbrunn Palace, home to the Habsburg dynasty for more than 200 years. Enjoy a scenic day cruise on the Danube River through the Wachau Valley, and visit the 1,000 year old Benedictine Abbey of Melk.

Detailed Daily Itinerary: Day 1: Overnight Flight to the Czech Republic Great sightseeing, traditional entertainment, and a fabulous Hungarian horse show highlight your amazing tour of the Imperial Cities of Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. Your overnight flight to Prague will feature appropriate meals and a movie will be offered for your viewing pleasure.
Day 2: Arrive Prague, Czech Republic After arriving in the "Golden City" of Prague, your Tour Director will meet you and provide an orientation tour on the way to the hotel. This afternoon there will be time to relax and adjust to the new time zone before joining your fellow travelers for a festive “Welcome to Europe” dinner.
Day 3: Prague Today’s sightseeing of this fairy tale city features tours of the amazing Hradcany Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. A leisurely guided walking tour of the “Old Town” showcases the unique medieval astronomical clock and the statue-lined Charles Bridge. This afternoon there will be time to independently explore the many fascinating pedestrian neighbors of the city center.
Day 4: Prague Your guided touring will take you through Prague's historic Jewish Quarter where you will see the ancient cemetery and visit the extremely interesting museum. Visits will also be made to the Old and New Synagogues. This evening, you are invited to a wonderful dinner at one of Prague's historic restaurants.
Day 5: Prague – Vienna, Austria A scenic ride through the Czech and Austrian countryside will take you from Prague to the grand city of Vienna, former capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Tonight, you will attend an unforgettable classical music concert featuring many fine melodies of the great Viennese composers.
Day 6: Vienna The city tour of Vienna features the baroque marvels of Schoenbrunn Palace, the summer retreat of the Habsburg dynasty for more than 200 years. Touring Vienna's city center, see the Gothic St. Stephan's Cathedral. You will surely be inspired by the city’s beautiful architecture, scenic parks, and towering church spires. Enjoy a memorable evening of dinner and entertainment at the centuries-old Altes Presshaus Restaurant in the picturesque wine-making village of Grinzing.
Day 7: Danube River Cruise – Melk – Vienna Travel along the banks of the Danube River to the medieval town of Durnstein where you will board a river vessel for a scenic cruise. Sail through the historic Wachau Valley with its incredible scenery. You will then disembark the ship for a tour of the 11th century Benedictine Abbey of Melk. The afternoon will conclude with a leisurely ride through the storied Vienna Woods back to your hotel in the city center.
Day 8: Vienna, Austria – Budapest, Hungary Today you will continue your journey to Budapest, "Queen of the Danube." Buda, sitting on one side of the Danube, and Pest on the opposite bank, combine to form one of the world's most beautiful cities. Enjoy an informative city tour featuring Mathias Church, site of many coronations of kings, and the Fishermen's Bastion with its fortress-like walls, towers, and arcades. You will also see historic Old Buda and Gellert Hill, followed by the Parliament and Heroes Square, dominated by the imposing Millennium Monument.
Day 9: Budapest – Hungarian Great Plain Travel through the picturesque Hungarian Great Plain to a typical Puszta horse farm for a spectacular Lipizzaner horse show performed by the Csikos (Hungarian horsemen). Following the show, you will be treated to a traditional Hungarian country feast before returning to Budapest for the remainder of the day.
Day 10: Szentendre – Visegrad – Budapest Today you will explore several of the picturesque towns along the Danube Bend. Visit the beautiful baroque town of Szentendre and travel to the former Renaissance capital of Visegrad to enjoy a magnificent view of the Danube Bend and the Borzsony Mountains. Then, travel back in time with a visit to a 14th century castle where knights with colorful costumes and authentic weaponry recreate the days of chivalry. This evening a Renaissance dinner, complete with wine and music, will highlight the end of a fascinating cultural journey through Central Europe.
Day 11: Budapest - Depart for Home Today you will fly from Budapest back to the United States, arriving home later this same day due to the change of times zones. |
