Pilgrimage to Fatima & Lourdes

Fatima, Portugal - Lourdes, France - Barcelona & Burgos, Spain

9-day tour, including 2 nights lodging in Fatima, Lourdes &  Barcelona and 1 night in Burgos

Superb climate, historic sites, beautiful scenery, and time for worship and personal devotion make the Pilgrimage to Fatima and Lourdes an appealing itinerary.  Beginning in the world-famous religious village of Fatima, celebrate Mass before exploring the Basilica and the tombs of Francisco and Jacinto.   Stroll through the rustic village of Aljustrel where the children lived.  Travel to the picturesque coastal village of Nazare, and see the massive Cistercian Monastery of Alcobaca, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Crossing into Spain, visit the city of Burgos to tour its Cathedral, the third largest church in Spain.

Continue through the Pyrenees Mountains to the secluded pilgrimage town of Lourdes, France.  Two days in Lourdes are highlighted by a walking tour to the sites associated with the life of St. Bernadette, daily Mass, and an evening candlelight procession in the Basilica square.  Journey south through the mountains to the medieval walled city of Carcassone.  Crossing the border back into Spain, arrive in one of Europe's most popular cities, Barcelona.  Here you will  visit Antonio Gaudi's masterpiece, "The Church of La Sagrada Familia," see the impressive Gothic Cathedral in the old quarter, and visit the Columbus Monument near the seaport.  An excursion to the Monastery of Monserrat to see the statue of the Black Madonna will round out this unique pilgrimage experience.
